The MOXF displays in online videos are not the same color.
Phil in your video for N Stuff the display looks amber
and in the little window in the video it looks black and white.

In Blake’s video for Kraft the display is blue like the MOX.

Why are the colors different?
Does the MOXF have selectable display colors?

in the video by Phil of the moxf, he states to contact N Stuff for a rebate to receive a free Flash board.  is this the only company that Yamaha recognizes to receive the free Flash board.  anyone with any information on receiving the Flash board will be greatly appreciated.  I cannot at this time afford the flash board and the libraries since in the last four months I purchased new the mox6 and the moxf6.  I personally think that it would be a good idea for Yamaha to offer the flash board since I think a lot of people will purchase the libraries from the Motifator site.  I know I will since I have purchased almost every library available for my past Yamaha keyboards.....Larry

I own a MOX and it has the same display so you probably can consider my reply as a potential answer to your question.

The display used in MOX and it’s brother MOXF, is a dot matrix display.

The advantage of these displays are: they are very cheap and you don’t need a special graphic processor embedded in your hardware, which means minimum hardware/software requirements which leads to minimization of the manufacturing costs.

The disadvantage for a consumer: Tiny viewing angle, sensitive to input voltage variations, slow refresh rates, uneven color distribution and very low resolution.

The videos were taken from different viewing angles and this display has a similar behavior to TN lcd panels (it should be narrower). If you change the direction of the camera you’ll notice the color shift in all of these.

Usually these are best to use with devices like arduino uno. You can buy these on ebay:

Manual shows only contrast adjustment.
Bad Mister why is top view black and white in your video
but it’s blue in Blake’s video?
Perhaps due to external lighting?

Type of light source, ratio of reflected/external light to direct light (from the display’s backlight), white balance setting of the camera…

To me the side angle views of display in video have a yellowish
or perhaps light greenish tint and the small screen seems close
to black and white.

BM what colors do they appear to you in the video?
What display colors do other forum members see?

Strange that this video was not set up to show the true display color as other video is.
Perhaps the colors in the small screen are more readable.

Interesting article. Thanks 5pinDIN.
