I was just given an MO8. I though if I bought a set of patches that would be a good way for me to take apart the sounds and figure out the machine. I picked up the PlayKeyz 80s volume set from the yamaha site. Actually surprised it was still there. The files were4 X3A and XOA. Cannot figure out how to get these to work with the MO8. Yamaha does not have any info. Thanks |

Hi, The MO6/MO8 was based on Motif ES technology, and is therefore compatible with voice data from the original Motif and Motif ES. The MO6/MO8 Owner’s Manual (see p.214) has info on all the specific file types that the MO can handle. The .X0A file is for the Motif XS, while the .X3A file is for the Motif XF. The internal architecture of the MO8 unfortunately predates both these instruments, and is therefore too old to load the files. The only way to use the sound set on your MO8, is if a Motif (.W2V) or Motif ES (.W7V) file is included in the set. - H - |

Thanks Henry. It did not come with the .w2v or .w7v files. The set is so old I was surprised it was still listed for sale. I will wait and see if support has an update.
