I am trying to import 6 custom voices from the Yamaha VL70-m on the Yamaha PLG150-VL card in the Motif ES6. I’m using Midi to Usb cable. Voices are in .syx format, trying to import them into the bank 033/002 on PLG150-VL, through the Bome SendSX program. The voice is transferred and its sound is heard, but its “waveform” is not transferred - the “waveform” of the factory custom voice remains, so I cannot save the voice I import. Is there a solution for this problem? |

Hi, Not sure about this one, but does it change if you switch to another voice and then go back to the voice you loaded? Will have a closer look later, to see if I can replicate the issue. - H - |

In that case, it goes back to the voice it was before, it doesn’t save the voice I’m trying to transfer. |

That makes me suspect that your SysEx data is going to an edit buffer (on the card or on the host) instead of the Custom (MSB=33, LSB=2) bank of the card. - H - |

I wouldn’t know...the midi settings are good, everything is as it should be, but… |

Your SysEx file could be the problem: If it’s in pure VL70-m bulk format, it should be possible to transmit it into the corresponding (Internal and Custom) banks of the PLG board with some tweaks. If it’s just a bunch of SysEx parameters (such as those you would find in song data for VL synthesizers), that data would end up in the edit buffer instead. Using the VL Visual Editor, you can transmit 6 voices to the Custom bank and then save a PluginAllBulkX (where X is the slot number that your PLG150-VL sits in) file with the .w2b extension on the instrument. I believe, however, that the editor itself only handles .LIB files and cannot load SysEx. Have you tried loading these files? They come with detailed instructions on how to use them, and could give you some clues on how to proceed. Also, this thread provides a lot of useful information. - H - |

Yes, I tried those files, they have the extension w.2b and are imported normally, over factory voices. However, I want to import some others, in .syx format, but it doesn’t work. I tried VL Visual Editor but it doesn’t work on Windows 7.

I believe the latest version installs correctly (and works) if you enable Compatibility Mode for Windows XP and Administrator privileges on the installer executable beforehand. I’m also on Win7, and have installed the VL Visual Editor successfully, although I haven’t played around with it much.
Probably a way better choice, since it handles .SYX files and VL70-m libraries directly. The “Purchase” link doesn’t seem to work anymore, though… - H - |
