I know how to audition voices using the XF Editor and that works quite well for voices that don’t require any custom samples. My question is: Can I (easily) audition a voice that uses custom samples and then save that voice and the associated samples?

All 4 of my User presets are almost full. I don’t really want to have to overwrite some or all of them to load new voices that have custom samples. Thus, I would like to deal with individual voices. I have a 1 gig flash board that is about 1/2 full.

I managed to find the answer to this question. The links below provide the procedure:

One thing to note on this one is that it defaults to showing the X3A content for USER1 (which isn’t usually what you’re looking for). Press the appropriate section button (User1 - User4) to see the content of that bank.

This one has a discussion and some instructions for the same topic:

I have been successfully using this approach. In order to “audition” a voice, you have to load it and try it. If you don’t like it, then you can overwrite it with something else. The limitation is that if it needs custom samples, they will load (and stay on the Flash board) even if the voice is over-written. I think that I saw somewhere that the Motif will eventually overwrite stuff on the flash that isn’t linked to an active voice but I don’t know this for sure.
