I’ve got several songs in song mode that worked fine and would immediately play when I hit the Play button on the synth. Now they don’t play at all and the measure-beat-clock indicator does not advance at all. What other setting would cause it to just refuse to play songs that have played fine before?

Have you set MIDI Sync to external?
If so, then my MoXF will ignore its own Play and wait for an external sequencer to start it.

Not sure where to set this on a XS, but on my MoXF it’s in Utility -> F6 (MIDI) -> SF3 (SYNC), I assume the names and structure will be similar for you.
