I hope there is still some activity here, seeing the dates on older posts, but I think this is the place where I can get my answers.

My question is this:
For a couple of years now I use the song mode on the MO to be able to control voices from from an external keyboard on different channels.

I’ve always used a Yamaha S30 to do this, but recently I bought a midi keyboard to use with the MO8 as well as mainstage.
I have different sliders on the midi keyboard assigned to different channels and zones on the midi keyboard as well.
The keyboard itself doesn’t seem to have the option to turn a specific zone on and off with the push of a button (I would have to go deep into the zones menu of the controller).
But in this setup I can only control the volume. That means that the polyphony of the MO8 is being affected still. Is there a way to assign a button on the controller to mute or turn off a channel in the MO8?
What I would want is to assign multiple faders to different channels on the MO and turn them off and on at will. Is this at all possible?

Which channel(s) does the controller transmit on?
Can the controller send SysEx messages?

I realize that my post might be somewhat unclear. So another try:

MO8:
Is in song/pattern mode. The 16 tracks/channels are filled with different instruments. Selecting the channel lets me play the corresponding instrument. track 1 = midi receive 1, track 2 is midi receive 2 etc.

Midi keyboard (Novation Impulse 61):
Has 4 zones setup.
Zone 1 sends on (for example) midi send 1
Zone 2 on 2
Zone 3 on 3
Zone 4 on 16 (this is used to control my macbook pro running mainstage, not important for this story).
Fader 1 is send 1 Button 1 is send 1 etc etc etc.

So the term ‘zone’ applies only to the controller, not to the MO in this case.

To my best knowledge the controller doesn’t send SysEx, only CC. So the bottom line question is: Is there a way to use a CC toggle command or something to manipulate the MO8 channel to turn off, or mute or something.

If only CC messages can be sent, then a MIDI Event Processor or computer MIDI Utility could likely be used to remap those messages to filtering of Note-On/Off for specific channels.

If you can send SysEx, the following will turn off/on the receiving of MIDI data for a Part.
