Can someone provide me with a lead for one of these? Thanks in advance. Joe |

I can’t help with a lead for an mLAN16E2, but you might also consider getting an FW16E. As long as you’re not using other mLAN products, which require a specific driver, the FW16E will provide the functionality of the mLAN16E2.
For some further information, see:
By the way, I’m not suggesting that finding an FW16E will be easy, just that you might have a choice of the two interfaces. |

Found a FW1-6E535 on ebay. Is this the correct item? Thanks again for the help. Joe |

You’re welcome. I have no idea what FW1-6E535 is, but it’s not an FW16E interface for a Motif XS/XF. The FW16E is also known as Yamaha part/model number WU58580, if that helps. |

You could also look for another rack-XS that already has one, buy that and sell yours… just an idea. |

Stephen’s idea may be your best option as they rarely come up on ebay. Why Yamaha chose to discontinue this item makes no sense to me since there are still a lot of XS/XF users out there. That’s probably what I’ll need to do in the event I ever need to replace mine. |

Or swap the FW interface from a recently purchased Rack XS into the original one, and resell the recent one. That way if there’s an issue of cosmetic condition of either unit, a decision can be made as to which to keep and which to sell. |

This likely was strictly a marketing decision by Yamaha. They apparently wanted a clean break between the Motif models and the Montage. In order to clear the XF inventory at the end, Yamaha had the “XF Fully Loaded†promotion for new sales, which included two 1GB flash modules and an FW16E interface for “freeâ€, among other goodies such as a 4GB USB flash drive with sample libraries, and discount coupons for related software. There were probably buyers who didn’t really “need” that Expansion Pack, but got it anyway because it didn’t cost anything beyond purchase of the XF itself. That surely depleted most remaining inventory of the accessories. |

I bought an FW16E four years ago, installed it in my Rack XS, and haven’t used it once. You can have it for whatever 5-pin says is a fair price. |

I believe the original MSRP was $299US, discounted to about $269 by some dealers. However, a fair price is what the market decides it should be, and the limited availability of the FW16E has caused them to sometimes sell at a premium. Beyond that, please leave me out of price discussions. Any negotiating should probably be done via PM or email. |

Sorry 5-pin. I don’t know what I was thinking, other than deferring to your role as administrator and your knowledge on the subject. Of course, I very much appreciate the info too! |

That’s OK, not a problem.

Thanks for your confidence in me, although I need to clarify something… The only thing I administer is my own retirement. Motifator has just been kind enough to give me a place to offer my thoughts, which I try to limit to Motif use and operation most of the time. Â :-) I hope you and another member can come to satisfactory deal. |
