At least they call it a workstation on the teaser page.

Hi zpink -- I’m excited about this new product, but it’s anticipated to be the successor to the Tyros 5. (With a Tyros-sized price.) Folks on the PSR Tutorial Forum pointed out that at least the last two Tyros models had “Digital workstation” on the box and tin. I’ve been blogging about Genos, etc. at: All the best—pj |

Hi -- After reading the Genos specs and watching demos, I posted a summary and comments at:

A lot of shared DNA with the Montage. Basically, if you own a Montage, you’re good. All the best—pj |

Hi -- I had a chance to think a little more about the Genos specs. There is quite a big jump in the number of Mega Voices, Super Articulation voices, and Super Articulation 2 voices—a bigger increase than we’ve seen with previous Tyros-to-Tyros upgrades. This is enabled by the new tone generation hardware. I think the end result will be highly detailed, expressive voices that are fun to play. It ain’t no accident that Yamaha added a third articulation button in addition to the knobs and sliders. I can’t wait to play this thing!
