Thank you again for your reply which has helped me get through the brick wall I hit and yes I am now recording multi midi tracks exactly as I wanted to in my head.
The key (pardon the pun) was my confusion using the voice and not the song mode when interacting with Cubase, but happily now all makes perfect sense.
You really should consider writing a book with your knowledge and gift for explaining the complexities of Cubase and the Motif.
I can now spend my time on composing and recording rather than banging my head against the wall, thanks once again.
