Is there a way in Cubase to select a note (in an editor window) and then just play that one note?

There’s also another way.  Clicking the keyboard graphic as described will play the note, using some fixed velocity value.  Very handy to see where you are in the scale.

However, if you’re *already* recorded a note and you want to hear it at the recorded velocity, there’s a toolbar button called “Acoustic Feedback” in the upper left hand side of the MIDI editor window that, when activated, plays the notes in the piano roll as you click them with your mouse.  This can also be pretty handy when trying even out areas containing dynamic shifts that are wider than you’d like…
