I own a motif es rack and I use it with an external midi controller. I use one of the sliders of the midi controller to change the cc011 (I don’t use foot pedals). The problem is that on the multi mode when I move the slider up or down it is not only affect the volume but also it affects other parameters of some of the voices (like different attack or slow fade in of some voice of the multi). It is not just steady volume of the overall sound and it gets complicated. What is wrong? Is the cc011 parameter programmed to change something else in some of the voices of the multi? What can I do to make sure that the cc011 only affects the volume of all the voices of all the multis?

Control Change 011 Expression has a fixed function. It will always control the volume of the device assigned to the channel, unless you filter it. cc011 can also be assigned to do any of scores of different things, although this is not recommended unless you defeat the fixed role as a volume controller.

Unless you have programmed cc011 to something else within a Voice, I can tell you the Voices as they come from the factory would never assign anything else additionally to cc011. All Voices will respond to cc011 by changing volume. I cannot think of one that would not.
By default, Yamaha set FOOT CONTROLLER 1 to cc011, just FYI.

It is also possible that due to merging of MIDI signals that you are mistakenly routing other control messages to the Port that the Motif-Rack ES receives musical performance information (port1). In a Multi-port setup, like via USB the Rack ES receives on multiple ports simultaneously

Without more information about what else you have setup, it will be impossible to pinpoint. But as an example if you merged (accidentally) commands earmarked as Control Surface Remote messages onto the Rack ES’s Port 1, you might find moving a slider on your controller might Detune a Part, or change its envelope, etc. If you misrouted the Editor information, say it gets merged with Port 1, any thing is likely to happen.

The PORT assignments must be kept discreet, receiving devices will respond to messages they receive and when behavior is bizarre as you report, it is usually a clear indicator of merged MIDI messages some where.

You were right! I had accidentaly put some more controls to the cc11 at the system settings! Probably very long ago and that setting stayed there! Until now of course! Thank you very much for your quick reply!!

I’m also stucked with the cc011 Expression Pedal issue. My Yamaha CP33 is connected to my Motif ES Rack. CC011 messages have an effect on the channel volume by default, I’m OK with that. However I would like to make some experiments around filters etc controlled by the Expression Pedal (FC7) connected to my CP33 without change in volume.

And although I can map AS1-6 or ASA/B to the Expression Pedal (cc011) without issues, I am unable to get rid of the “channel volume change” effect caused by the default behavior of cc011 events.

Would it be possible to “deactivate” the volume change behavior and use the cc011 (FC7 expression pedal) to control other parameters?

Any help is appreciated!
