There are certainly USB to USB cables but the Motif-Rack ES only receives MIDI IN via USB from a computer. Sorry, but you don’t mention what USB only keyboard you are referring to, it likely has to connect to a computer as well. Have you looked into getting one?
If not get a controller that uses standard 5-pin MIDI jacks.

Sorry, you spent that money unnecessarily, what you are attempting will not work. You need to check the capability of your keyboard - it most likely only connects to a computer via that USB type “B” port..
The USB port on the Motif-Rack is a “B” type. It is a “To Host” post, and the “Host” is always a computer.
We are fairly certain, that this is the same for your keyboard, but we don’t work for Casio so you should check your documentation. Even if you make the jacks work there is no driver to make the information translate - in order to use the USB port on the Rack ES you would need to install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for your computer type and operating system. It will not work. Contact Casio, I would be very surprised if you can use it as you are thinking (as a MIDI keyboard controller without a computer).. Either get a MIDI controller or use a computer those are your options, as far as I know. |
