I just got a Motif ES Rack, and I am using cc7 to control the volume. The problem is that I have a ‘Multi’ set up for piano & strings (just an example), and each voice is set to a different volume in the multi setup page, to get the blend I want. Now when I want to adjust the master volume via cc7, both voices jump to the same level. Is there a way to control the output volume other than cc7? Or, is there a better way to blend voices that will work with cc7? Also, the other problem I have with cc7, is that if I switch patches, the volume jumps to 100%...is there a way to avoid that? If I fade the cc7 volume, I want the next patch to stay at the volume I have set up. hope that makes sense. mm0 |

Control Change 007 is main channel volume… All receiving devices are forced to the same value… Use Control Change 011 which is channel Expression… The receiving devices will maintain their relative volumes. What you want to use cc011. This will keep the critical balance between your Piano and your Strings.
When you recall a Program it will recall the stored Volume setting, this volume setting for each PART is cc007 main Channel Volume…
You can set the Motif-Rack ES to CONTROLLER RESET = HOLD, this will allow you to move from Program to Program without recalling that stored value - the value of your pedal sending cc011 will be “live” as you change from program to program within the same mode.
