As I said in an earlier post, I just got a used ES Rack. I finally got it wired up tonight, and when I press the power button, the display just flashes on and off. If it was a computer, I would first check out and replace the power supply, but having never owned one of these, I’m assuming it might be the power cord. I tried 2 different outlets - same thing. I’m holding my breath for what I hear back from this post.... What should I look for? |

The Motif-Rack ES requires a very specific Yamaha power supply. What is the model number on that supply? |

that’s exactly it - apparently, the people who sold it to me (Guitar Center) didn’t check that. it was a generic 3v to 12v power adapter. I checked the manual, which said it was supposed to have a 16v adapter.
I called them today and they’re going to try and locate one for me. Apparently Yamaha (they said, though I’m going to check also) doesn’t make this particular Pa300/301 adapter any more.
It bums me out, though, that it is going to be another week or so (weekend) before I get to actually try it out now. Thanks |

That is true, the PA-300 is discontinued (as is the Motif-Rack ES). However, Yamaha still makes an adapter that is rated specifically for use with the Motif-Rack ES. Adapter models change over the years… the current compatible adapters that will work for the Motif-Rack ES are the PA-300B or PA-301. Do not try to use the Motif-Rack ES with the wrong power supply (for hopefully obvious reasons). Patience is golden here. You should know that the power adapter comes with the Motif-Rack ES normally - so you have an expectation of getting one with your purchase. |
