I’m trying to send the output of my ES Rack through a Radial Pro D2 Stereo Direct Box.  In Multi Mode, I’m sending one voice to L/R output and another voice to as1.  Running everything in mono.

I can send the as1 output to either the Left or the Right channel of the direct box and it works great.  Neither the Left nor Right channel of the direct box work at all if I send L/R signal (mono Left) to either channel of the direct box.

When I bypass the direct box, the voice coming from L/R mono works fine (but I get a lot of hum if I try to send it down our 100’ snake).

I tried changing the output for the voice that had been sent to L/R to as3.  That didn’t work either.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance,

Hobson

No. If you are using the L/R outputs on the back of the Motif Rack ES you are operating in STEREO. You are not, “running everything in mono”. You are routing the Motif Rack ES in stereo plus one mono send.

Not sure if that will help you in your setup, but please recognize that while you can PAN signal in the Rack ES to either Left or Right, that does not make the L/R outputs mono, the REVERB return is stereo as are many (most) of the effects.  Just FYI.

My wording may have been inept, but I do think I’m running everything in mono.  I’m routing one signal to the L/R output and another signal to the as1 output.  Then I plug one cable from the “L/MONO” jack on the Rack ES to an amp and another cable from the “1” jack to an amp.

I discovered that I had a bad cable which contributed to the problem I was experiencing.

Nevertheless, the volume difference between the “L/MONO” jack and the as1 jack is significant.  To make the volume from each output equal I have to boost the L/R output to “+6db” on the Utility OUTPUT page and set the volume on for the L/R output (on the Mulit OUTPUT page) to 127 and the as1 output to 100.  Is this normal?

The L/Mono output by itself includes all Parts routed to “L/R” and includes the System Effects (Reverb and Chorus) plus the Master EFfect plus the Master EQ, while the “as1” does not include the System Effect, nor the Master Effect or Master EQ… so yes the difference could be significant.
