I need help. I have a Motif ES 7 and Cubase 4 LE on a Windows Vista 32-bit machine. I have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro as both the Audio and MIDI I/O. I would like to record arm a stereo track in Cubase and press play on the Motif to play a Song file and record the mix in Cubase. From what I am reading this should be simple, but I cannot find a step-by-step setup in order to get Cubase to recognize the control signal from the Motif. |

I also meant to add, after searching around, I’m wondering if there is also an easier way to do this. I’m open to any and all ideas. I just need a Step-by-Step for Dummies explanation. |

You cannot use the Motif ES REMOTE Control functions when connected to it via standard 5-pin MIDI cables. In order to use the REMOTE Control functions requires you are using a multiple port MIDI connection - which can be USB-MIDI (or mLAN-MIDI). When you connect the Motif ES to your computer via USB, using the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver, you will be able to assign PORT 4 as the discreet REMOTE Control communication port. Remote Control commands must be kept separate from music performance commands - so they are provided with their own separate discreet MIDI Port. This is detailed in the following sections of your Owner’s Manual: “Controlling a computer from the instrument” and “Setting up for REMOTE CONTROL” You can download the appropriate Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for your computers operating system from the following link: http://www.yamahasynth.com/downloads/drivers_software/synthesizers/motif_es/driver/ |
