Hello, i was wondering if there was another way to update the OS on the es6 or can it only be done with a smartmedia card.

Yes, it doesnt work from a USB stick - I just tried it!

I just bought the motif es6 from a music store that had it as a store demo. it’s been boxed up in the warehouse still in mint condition, but it didnt have s SMC with it. I found one on ebay. Thanks for the info guys. i’m sure after i read the manual i’ll still be back!

A number of folks have also reported that the upgrade can be done from SD cards via an SMC to SD adapter - but since you were able to find an SMC, this probably superfluous information.
