I am wondering if an
Akai EWI USB MIDI Wind Instrument Controller would work with an ES.  The wind controller has a USB connection for transmitting MIDI.

Thanks,

Bryan

You could connect wind controller only via standard MIDI (5pin) cable. USB connection on ES is used only to transfer MIDI data to/from computer. There is also converter for Yamaha’s BC3 breath controller to standard MIDI output, maybe it could help you (I really don’t know?).

Thanks for the reply.

That was my suspicion, that the USB port wouldn’t work that way.

I’m using my EWI USB with a Motif Rack ES with great success. Is ther ea way to connect your Motif ES to a PC and then using something like MidiOx drive your ES through the PC (or Mac) using your EWI USB sending midi via PC? If so you’ll be pretty happy with the results.

Thanks for the suggestion about hooking up to a computer.
I don’t have a wind controller, yet.  I’d like to avoid the computer as part of the set up.
I am leaning towrds a wx5 now.
