Pleasant Good morning,
I have a Yamaha motif xf7 and I encountered a problem yesterday and is in need of help. The Ab and D keys from the first lower octave to the first D after middle C does not work. no sound at all. I cleaned the contact boards under the keys to no avail. All the other keys works perfect including the Ab and D keys in the higher register of the keyboard.

Hi Glenville, I would start looking at the actual ribbons between the boards that are mounted to the keybed assembly. A poor connection (corrosion, etc.) on one of the pins can cause exactly this kind of error, so a reseating or cleaning of the ribbon connectors might help. Refer to the Service Manual to see the disassembly instructions. You would probably have to contact Yamaha to buy new ribbons. If you want to make your own instead, the wire and connectors are likely standard parts with a given pin pitch (distance between pins), available from specialist retailers such as Mouser Electronics in the US or Elfa Distrelec in Europe. - H - |
