I think I’m missing something pretty simple here. Working on a performance mode and changing between chords seemed really choppy. As I messed about a bit more I figure out that after I played the 7th note together (in both performance and voice mode) that the first notes would abruptly cut out. I’m sure there is either a)something that is setup incorrectly or b) there is something wrong or I misunderstood 128 note polyphony. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! -Dave |

Depressing a key doesn’t “count” as only one note of polyphony. See the Voice list in the MX Data List (http://download.yamaha.com/file/57920) to find the polyphony usage per key for each Voice - it can be as high as eight. For Performances, add the polyphony for all Voices that are played simultaneously. Of course, keys that aren’t released, including due to use of sustain, add to polyphony usage. Any Arps playing also have to be counted. In addition, if the MX is connected via MIDI such that there’s a feedback loop, notes can be doubled. This happens so rapidly that it might not be obvious - typically it just introduces a slight “phasey” quality to the sound.
