Hello, I am a newbie when it comes to sounds. In the Voice Libraries Shop, which section will work with the MX61? I don’t see one for the MX series. The features page on the Yamaha site for the MX61 says it has the MOTIF XS series. So does that mean the voices for the Motif XS in the Voice Libraries Shop will work? Thanks, Steve |

No, not directly - but exciting news was announced by Yamaha at the recent MusikMesse a couple of weeks ago: News:
Apr 10, 2013
These will allow users to load Voice data from the Motif-series, S-series, and MOX series to the MX. Stay tuned for details and information on exactly what file types can be ported over and what changes will be made to the data. |

Thanks Bad_Mister for this great news. I saw your YouTube video where you showcased the MX and you sold me. I was looking at Kor, Roland and Yamaha. Since I compose and use the Motif XF at home, the learning curve to manage the MX for live performances is pretty quick. Many cudos |

I downloaded the free Motif XS PSC SongWriters Collection library and by using the John Melas MX tools demo version I managed to open the library and load some voices in MX61 user memory. I guess it is impossible to load libraries with new sample waveforms, only libraries that use the XS internal waveforms. Still, two questions arise: 1) Does MX have exactly the same tone generation engine as Motif XS and MOX, meaning that all voice parameters are transferred? 2) Since MX has 166MB of internal waveform memory while XS and MOX have 355MB, how does the mapping of internal waveforms is accomplished? Does MX have exactly the same waveforms as XS and MOX or is it a chance that some elements will be omitted during the import? |
