Guys,

I just purchased an XS Rack. I am trying to use the XS Rack voice editor program to open my ES Rack voice library, problem is, when i go to open the ES library which resides on my Windows desktop, i cannot find it. I try to look under “All Files” in the pop up window, but it isn’t even an option. I’ve never had any problems moving voices from Motif to ES using voice editors. Why am i having such difficulty moving my ES voices to XS? I also have the Midi-USB ports activated, so i know it isn’t that. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Need help transferring ES rack voices to XS

Not sure I follow you in your post. The Motif-Rack ES never (ever) created ALL data files. ALL data files is a format only found in the keyboard version of the product lines - as “all” includes Voices, Performances, Master and Sequencer data. Since the Rack unit does not have a sequencer there is no ALL data file.

Your subject seems to suggest your need help transferring the Motif-Rack ES Voices to the Motif-Rack XS.

The Motif-Rack XS Editor can Import sounds in the following two Motif-Rack ES formats:
(.m3e) Motif-Rack ES Multi-Part Editor file
(.w9e) Motif-Rack ES Voice Editor file

If you have saved your data from the Motif Rack ES in these formats you can simply open them and send them to the Rack XS.

The ES Voices must be opened by the XS Editor first.

Also, if i must use a USB cable, what driver must i use and where can i obtain it?

The driver you use must match your computer operating system.

The official download site for Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers is here: http://www.global.yamaha.com/download/usb_midi/

Make sure you download the correct one for your computer type and OS. For example:
Windows Vista version 3.0.3
Windows XP 64-bit version 3.0.3
Window XP version 2.2.3
Macintosh version 1.1.1
