Can someone point me to a document that shows not only the voice list of the MO6, but also shows the number of “voices” each patch uses.  I must be overlooking this in the manual.

Thanks,
Squeak

Re: MO6--Need (detailed) patch list.

Yamaha has not published any table that shows either the number of elements used in voices or the number of voices used in performances for the MO (or any of the Motif class synthesizer products for that matter).

Sorry /forums/images/icons/frown.gif alt=,

Re: MO6--Need (detailed) patch list.

Bummer:( They do this for their arranger line, and my Roland has the list in the manaul.  I don’t understand why Yamaha hasn’t included this as a column on the voice list.

This to me would be the final info I need to see before deciding on the MO6 or another synth.  I need to see how many voices there are per patch so that I can compare the (more commonly used patches) voice number (per patch) and then take that into consideration with the 64 note poly.

Hi squeak_D,

To get an accurate picture of the polyphony each Voice consumes, you’d need even more information - the key and velocity ranges for each element, for example. See Bad Mister’s post at the bottom of this thread.

Re: MO6--Need (detailed) patch list.

Thanks for the info.  I don’t think the MO6’s poly will work for me.  It’s nice to see they carried over some great sounds from the ES, but they really shot the MO in the back (in my opinion), by dropping the poly.

What good are all those awsome voices if the poly lacks the horsepower to drive them in song/pattern mode?  I can understand they dropped the sampling, and also dropped any option for expanding the MO, but geez it should have stopped there.  They should have at least kept the poly above 64.  Plus Roland’s new Juno-G is going to give the MO6 a HUGE run for the money.  The Juno G does quite a bit more, and costs $200 less.

I wish Yamaha would add a feature my Roland synth has (unless they did add it and I missed it), but my Roland has what’s called “voice reserve”.  It lets you set the poly limits per part so that you can have better control over your patterns and songs.
