Loading a Pattern in a Motif ‘Classic’

Pattern Data appears as .W2P files. On your desktop you will see two files: a .W2P file and a .W3P file. Copy both onto your SmartMedia card. On Motif you will just see a single file. 

You can load data in two ways:

1. ALL AT ONCE: Press [FILE] and call up ALL PATTERN under File Type. Locate your new Pattern folder in the right hand side of the screen and press [ENTER]. All Patterns in that folder will now load into Motif.

This will overwrite your existing Pattern data so be sure to have anything you want to keep backed up on SmartMedia or external storage device.

2. ONE AT A TIME: Press [FILE] and call up PATTERN under File Type. Locate your new Pattern folder in the right hand side of the screen and press [ENTER]. You can now scroll through a list of all the Patterns in that folder. Select a Pattern, press [ENTER] and then choose a free Style location.

Loading Patterns singly will minimize the chances of accidentally overwriting data, which would be very annoying.

These are complete styles with bass, piano, guitar. etc. Seeing how these are put together will help you to understand patterns, sections and phrases. Load the file, press F3 Patch and the Section button and then change the sections to see what phrases are used.
