Hello.

I have a MOXF8, and would like to record the sounds from the MOXF* into cubase as midi so I can transpose the key of the songs later if needed. I have managed to figure out how to record into Cubase as audio, but when I try to transpose it sounds kind of whonky. I would also like it to come in as Midi so I can go in and tweak notes if needed.

I really don’t want to have to use the workstation on the keyboard at all if possible, as I have tried to learn how to use it, but I just cannot seem to be able to get how it all works and I am completely overwhelmed with it.

Is it possible to plug my keyboard into my computer and have it record the actual sounds from the keyboard as MIDI using only Cubase, not the keyboard DAW? I have a Scarlett Focusrite that I am using for an interface.

Thank you in advance!
April

Welcome to the forum.

MIDI is digital data, not sound. It is instructions like “play this note with this velocity”, or “bend the pitch two semitones upward”. So while you can record MIDI in a DAW such as Cubase, and edit that data ("tweak notes” etc.), it’s your MOXF (or another MIDI tone generator) which eventually has to turn the MIDI back into sound.

Motifator has numerous articles in the Support section. Besides those for the MOXF, most of the ones for the MOX are are also applicable.

The MOX articles can be found here:

The MOXF articles are here:

If you need certain Drivers, etc, for your MOXF, they’re available here:

Motifator/Keyfax has some videos for the MOX/MOXF that might help you better understand things which you’re having difficulty with:
