Hi,

I own a Motif XS6 as a second board but only for the voices.
I have an Akai MPC Live sequencer connected to it by midi.

On the Akai there is a midi file with 5 tracks. Each track with a different midi channel. Is it possible the Motif “plays” all the 5 tracks at the same time and how is it done? For example:

Midi file:

Track 1 - channel 1 - trumpet on the Motif
Track 2 - channel 2 - horn on the Motif
track 3 - channel 3 - piano on the Motif
and so on

In the Motif I can select just 1 midi receiving midi channel.

Thanks

You’ll need to use either Song or Pattern mode - they are multitimbral. Up to 16 Parts can be played on the XS by an external sequencer like the MPC, each on its own Receive Channel.

To set the XS to synchronize with the MPC clock…
Press [UTILITY] > [F5]Control > [SF2]MIDI
Set MIDI Sync to “MIDI”
See (5) MIDI Sync on page 268 of the XS Owner’s Manual.

When not using the MPC, be sure to set MIDI Sync back to “internal”.
