Hi, this is probably a stupid quesrtion but. I’d like to run my akai mpd18 (usb) in to my motif xs6 so i can trigger the drum sounds via the akai pads. Is there a way to do this? Is there a driver i need to download into the motif? I’m very new to this, any help will be appteciated.

Although concerning a MOXF instead of an XS, the basics are here:

Thanks for the quick response. In my motif xs manual it says it can send and receive midi through the usb port. So i went to utilities and selected usb for midi send and receive. I don’t have it hooked up to any computer. The keyboard is stand alone. I guess i’ll have to use a different pad unit that has a midi out connection.

Thanks for the quick response.

You’re welcome.

Unfortunately, such communication is only with a USB Host. That host can be a computer running the appropriate Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver, or a standalone host device. The XS itself can’t act as a host for the Akai.

That should work, or get a USB MIDI Host.

Thanks so much for the info!  I think i’ll look into finding one that’ll plug directly into the midi input.
