I want to use my MOXF as a controller for my Nord Stage3 Compact.  They connect easily.  One just has to turn down the volume on the MOXF so what ever is triggered in the MOXF is not playing while controlling the Nord.

Is there any button I can push to just switch between playing the MOXF sound or the the MIDI controlled Nord sound?  Would be great to use a controlling pedal for this feature to turn MIDI on or off.

Reason:  Nord has a few killer grand piano sounds best played on a weighted keyboard.  Nord Stage 3 compact is a waterfall keyboard great for organ and synth, but less so for the piano touch.

So while playing a gig, switching on or off the MIDI controlling the other instrument while on the fly would be awesome.

Also, if you know a good MIDI tutorial for Yamaha MOXF, please let me know.  The manual is very lacking in this information.  I’m a newbie to its’ use.

Thank you in advance.

In order to use the MOXF as a controller for the Nord in the manner you’d like, two events have to take place - the MOXF has to be muted, and MOXF MIDI data has to be sent to the Nord. When you want to play the MOXF without the Nord sounding, the MOXF keys need to play its sound generator, and MIDI to the Nord has to be prevented. Those things can be accomplished through proper MIDI transmit and receive channel settings.

The information in these two support articles should help you set up your MOXF8 to use buttons for switching:

You’ve referred to “The manual”. Perhaps you’re unaware that there are other manuals besides the MOXF Owner’s Manual. You might want to download the MOXF Reference Manual, Data List, and Synthesizer Parameter Manual.
