Is there any chance for the “Old” Yamaha MX could work on ios as audio interace?

The “old” MX (version 1) isn’t fully USB class compliant so it won’t pass audio over USB. I’ve tried hooking up a version 1 MX61 to an iPad (with a USB to Lightning adapter) and it will pass MIDI info both ways but no audio. Yamaha’s FM Essentials app (or GarageBand) on the iPad is triggered by MIDI from the MX keyboard but the audio comes out of the iPad speakers, not back through the MX. You could hook up cables from the iPad headphone jack to feed an amplifier.
