Hi! I bought an ES8 from US (110V) and I live in Sweden (220-230V). Is there a way to change the internal power supply so I can plug it in to the wall without an external transformer? Does it maybe already accept 220V in or is there a bracket on the circuit-board that I can move/switch or do I need to change the whole internal power supply? |

Models after the ES have universal power supplies (switch-mode type). However, the ES has either a supply for 100-120VAC (US and Japanese market) or a supply for 220-240VAC (European and other markets). It’s probably best to get an external transformer. Be careful how you specify it - the topic of your thread says “110V to 230V transformer”, but what’s needed is usually referred to with the voltages in the reverse order, “220/240V to 110/120V step-down transformer”. The transformer doesn’t have to be very large. ES power consumption is only 38 Watts. A 50 Watt transformer should be adequate, but I’d suggest a 75 to 100 Watt one for a bit more of a margin. If you decide to replace the internal supply, be aware that the ES8 uses a different supply assembly than the ES6/ES7. |

The Power Supply Unit for 220/240VAC is Yamaha part V3612700 (E B048).
I just found that this was covered seven years ago…
