I connect MIDI out from my classic motif 8 to MIDI in on my rack XS. When I press keys on my motif classic I get no sound. However I get a blinking light over the (voice) button on the rack. So I know a signal is getting through but there is no sound coming out.

There is a MOX8 I plugged into my rack XS and it worked.

If someone knows the trick please help me:(

Blinking of the Voice button LED indicates reception of MIDI data, but things may still be misconfigured.

Make sure that the Motif’s MIDI transmit channel matches the receive channel of the Rack XS.

Otherwise, I suggest you start with the Troubleshooting section of the Rack XS Owner’s Manual (http://download.yamaha.com/file/9269), beginning on page 109.
