Hi,

I just bought a USB Midi interface so I can control the MX with my computer. But then I remembered that it does do MIDI over the USB cable. I don’t want to do audio over the cable, I will be routing the audio out of the MX into my mixer and into the computer.

Is it possible to only send MIDI via the USB cable?

Yes - you and whatever computer application(s) you use determine which data is sent. Although the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver will handle both MIDI and audio, it doesn’t force you to use USB audio. Be sure to select “USB” for MIDI IN/OUT in Utility mode, if that’s how you want to transmit and receive MIDI data.

Although the most recent MX OS available for download appears to be version 1.01, yours may have a newer version installed.
