So it seems that i just can’t figure this out. I’ve looked all over creation on a step by step instruction on how to connect my Yamaha Rack XS to Cubase 7.0.7, with the result of downloading the driver over and over again only for my DAW to read :motif not connected: Please if anyone has owned this thing or at least can direct me on how to properly hook it up to my SL-990 keyboard --> M-Audio Midiman --> via USB or midi idc, just please help me get this thing running. Thanks. PS: I had it hooked up once by accident but the midi notes wouldn’t show; just the audio. So idk what happened there. So i unhooked it only to be lead here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I suppose that you are using USB to connect RXS to computer? Otherwise, if you are using USB to MIDI interface and connect RXS via MIDI (5pin connector), then you couldn’t use Yamaha driver but driver of that USB/MIDI interface. In that case you couldn’t use Rack XS Editor, but only play/record in Cubase.

Thanks for your reply! Yes it would appear the i’m using usb. I also have the two outputs (QUARTER INCH) of the RXS going out into my Apogee Duet which i also failed to mention, and then the usb cable from the RXS going into my Mac Pro laptop. Which is running OSX 10.10. I should note that i never used the editor before having to move everything (DAW, EXTERNAL INTRUMENTS, MIDI HARDWARE) to my laptop so i wouldn’t be upset without it, however i wasn’t the one that hooked everything up last time. Everything seemed to have went through the MidiMan tho, which i mentioned earlier, and that also is plugged into my Mac via usb. It’s just i haven’t a clue how to hook everything up correctly with the drivers being evidently unusable. So what do you suggest i do? |

In Cubase you should select ASIO driver for Apogee in order to hear and record audio coming from RXS.
I’m still little confused about your MIDI connection. Why you should need MidiMan interface, since RXS have 5pin MIDI input for keyboard / controller and USB for computer? If your keyboard has 5pin MIDI connectors (at least IN and OUT) just connect OUT to RXS IN and connect RXS to Mac via USB. Install the latest driver

Well i did what you said to a T. Idk if i have things set up wrong in Cubase or what. I appreciate your help tho! I’ll probably have to upgrade my gear for 10.10 OS X which is actually 10.10.5 if that matters… i had to downgrade and do an entire factory reset when i accidentally installed El Capitan which isn’t compatible with ANY of my gear go figure. So maybe that’s it too and i’m chasing the wrong rabbit haha. Thanks again! |
