Hi Please forgive if this is a dumb question.... Do the number of pins of the Motif XS firewire and the Apple Firewire to thunderbolt adapter match up ?

As far as I know…
The Apple Thunderbolt adapter is 9-pin, FW800.
The Yamaha mLAN16E2 or FW16E is 6-pin, FW400.
A 9-pin to 6-pin FW cable will interconnect them.

More specifically you need a FW 800 to FW 400 cable (sometimes advertised as 9 pin to 6 pin wiht no mention of FW800) in addition to the Thunderbolt adapter.

I have this and it works perfectly with my XF/FW16e.
