Could I copy all my XF sounds and performances to an XS rack and then take that out with a controller to gig?  I’m not using any samples at the moment.  Would really be great to get the Motif more portable in this way.  Thanks!

XF files can’t be directly loaded into an XS (Rack or keyboard model). An XS doesn’t have all the Waveforms or Arps found in an XF. The Rack XS has no Performance mode, among other limitations.

Using Melas software, it should be possible to load a Rack XS with Voices that are compatible, within the limitations.

You might consider getting a MOXF6 (or MOXF8 if you need full 88 keys), which would be compatible with Motif XF Voices and Performances, if you find the MOXF keyboard feel acceptable.

I’ve had an XF7 and just got a moxf6.  I may be odd but I like the moxf6 keybed. Ymmv.  Made it a snap to share my library between boards.  XS will be trickier and if you’re using voices with XF only waveforms, you’ll have to sub for an XS waveform.  Someone here published a cross reference between the two models.
