I also mean that talented player they had playing every single style and with every expansion pack. I think this is him at the bottom of this link. Yamaha doesn’t have anyone like this for the Montage or someone well in tune with programming as well as playing. http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/2013/11/29/yamaha-tyros-5-keyboard-main-demonstration-images-video/ |

What’s the point of spending 5k+ on a sample player? Can you create your own SA2 voices on Tyros5? I can put zillions of videos like this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJfdTgOr8tE With the purchase of Steinberg it seems Yamaha has lost its interest in developing the AWM2 platform any further. This is considered as a feature of Montage (which existed for so long out there):

So probably those musicians who doesn’t know how to use software such as ableton and mainstage, will be the victims of these sample players… There are only few good features left at the moment in the whole MOTIF series and it’s not clear to me if they are updated in Montage or not. None of them worth the money Yamaha is asking. |

Excellent! Now we’ve heard 34 total Montage performances of 1,900. Just 1,866 to go. OMG Yamaha please hire a dedicated multifaceted professional to showcase the Montage instead of giving away Montages to busy performers and dealer shops and then just crossing your fingers that accidentally one impromptu youtube video will excite someone enough to go order a Montage. You’re succeeding at making the Montage look like it’s “not worth a proper introduction”. Yamaha to Montage recipient: “Please accept this Montage as a gift and in return please make it look and sound good enough that someone would want to buy it. Sincerely, your friend Yamaha.” This is Kindergarten marketing. Word of mouth used to work in the olden days but you’re up against Jordan who is currently setting fire to the latest Kronos 2. I have to admit that the same ole pitch bend wheel, modulation wheel and ribbon controller just can’t do what a single 360 degree joy stick can do. Why is Yamaha still using these unimaginative controllers from the 80s? That’s insane. It’s not like there’s a patent on a joy stick that only Korg has the rights to. Get with the program. You can modulate, bend the pitch and add vibrato all in a single motion instead of pressing a foot controller and rolling (2) individual wheels. We only have (2) hands ya know. I watched Jordan do this with a guitar voice and then I watched one Montage demo attempting to do the same thing with only the pitch bend wheel. It was laughable how lame the Montage was at properly controlling a guitar solo only because it has no such capability. The guitar performance might sound better or more authentic in a stagnant form but when animated the Kronos kills it. Animation and dynamic control are everything when soloing instruments such as the guitar. This is 2016 when hoverboards exist although exploding but at least they’re trying and yet I’m still seeing wheels and ribbons on a flagship Yamaha. Changing that one thing alone would bring over the Korg masses and dynamic players. Is there some reason that a hardware synth can’t implement this common video game technology? I think the Atari had a joy stick back in the day and it worked. Sorry. I’m just an old Yamaha fan but like Trump always says “we don’t win anymore!”. |

You have to admit that the video was a little funny. I’m constantly searching for new Montage material so I’m trying. The point is we shouldn’t be searching for days/weeks/months because Yamaha is not delivering any comprehensive demos. We’re only getting clips of some gracious folks taking their time to post. I think they’re actually getting the Montage for free too. Some of us would post 20 hours of material for a free Montage and we’re getting 2 minutes if we’re lucky. It’s just not adding up IMO. |

That’s very true. Some of the voice demos of the XS were done by yours truly in a matter of 30 minutes or so during my first week with my copy (early May 2007) http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/xs_audio_demos/P39/ |

Quick, someone send Jote a Montage so we can get some real sounds samples for the record. |
