Hi all,

I’m thinking of getting a Yamaha MX49 or MX61.

I want to use the sounds, but also to use it with pianoteq (VST Piano)

With Pianoteq, the MX would function as an audio interface (with Asio Drivers).

Is this possible ?
Or is the interface not suited for use with Piano VST’s ??

Important is Low Latency and Good quality sound.

Any ideas ?
Hope to hear from you.

You can use Pianoteq (standalone or VST) with the MX acting as a MIDI controller as you can do with any other software instrument. The Yamaha USB audio/midi interface will transfer the sound from your computer to your MX via a USB cable and from there to your headphones or line out. Have in mind that the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO Driver that is needed for the communication between MX and your computer is only capable of 44.1KHz/16 bit audio quality, that is CD quality sound. Also, in the case of software instruments, the latency is merely a matter of your computer’s processing power and your OS architecture. With an average laptop and Win8/10 you should expect a total (in+out) latency of about 10 - 40 msec.
