Does anyone have or know if there is information to help a semi-beginner edit or create piano voices?  I have looked at the standard voices using the MX Voice Editor but it is hard to know why certain functions are used and how they affect the final outcome.  For example what is “Ap:CF3 Stretch Hard Mn” component or “Ap:CF3 Stretch Hard ST” ?  Is this explained in the manuals somewhere and I have missed it?

I have been disappointed with the standard Piano voices - thin ,watery and muffled are the words that come to mind. Michael Wilcox has some great sounds on the Google Plus blog (https://plus.google.com/communities/110776914790978011605), but I cannot find any information on how they were created.
Thanks from George

Sorry that I didn’t see your post until now - I own a Motif XS and XF, so I tend to concentrate on their forums, and the MOX/MOXF, which are similar.

This support article has some useful information, although obviously it doesn’t directly apply to the MX:
http://www.motifator.com/index.php/support/view/learning_to_customize_a_piano_sound
In particular, the Utility mode Velocity Curve setting can make a big difference in how piano sounds. See page 64 of the MX Reference Manual for details.

Let’s see if I can decode “Ap:CF3 Stretch Hard Mn” and “Ap:CF3 Stretch Hard ST"…
Ap = Acoustic piano (see page 7 of the MX Owner’s Manual)
CF3 = Yamaha CFIII 9ft Concert Grand
Stretch = see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stretched_tuning
Hard = key striking force of sample
Mn = Mono sample
ST = Stereo sample

I hope that helps.
