Please forgive me if this has been covered I searched but didn’t find anything. Also I’ve been all over Google, eBay, and the manuals so that why I’m here.

Anybody know a Mouser or Digikey (or some other site I’m not in the know about) part number for the four mod knobs on an MO8? They are the Cutoff, Resonance, Attack and Release knobs. In the MO8 service manual they are part numbers VR6, VR7, VR8 and VR9. All listed as yamaha part number V4102900 and I guess their original manufacturer part number is B10.0K RK11K114D0F. I am having the worst time finding this thing. I know it’s on the Syntaur site but it’s almost 10x the cost of similar ALPS stuff on Digikey and Mouser. Any thoughts?

B

B10.0K is a description (10Kohm, resistance taper “B").
The part is Alps RK11K114D0F. RK11 is the series, RK11K114 is the basic part, D0F is the specific variant.

Yamaha has the current replacement, V410290R, at $6.66US each plus shipping.

Syntaur has them at $9.95 each.

A Findchips search on the original number finds nothing.
This finds the closest variants:

An Octopart search on the original number finds nothing.
This finds the closest variants:

One of the variants might work, assuming correct shaft length, resistance taper, center tap and detent. I suggest that you download data sheets to verify specs. Here’s one (but get others):

Thank you! I just hit on that Yamaha24x7 site this morning and have never tried the other two. I think I’m just going to go through Yamaha. I really appreciate it.

I was looking at that datasheet the other day but I’m not sure exactly what the D0F from the original part number means. I was guessing it was the center detent but I think it could also have to do with it not having a dummy terminal like at the bottom of the 3rd page. I can always measure the existing pots for size but the D0F is what’s keeping me from doing anything other than yamaha.

You’re welcome.

Unlike the Yamaha site, the Findchips and Octopart sites don’t sell parts - they search distributor sites for the requested part.

I don’t know how to “decode” the D0F. The Yamaha part does have the fourth terminal, which is a center tap (not a dummy), as can be seen on the MO schematic.

It’s probably worth the extra $20 or so to buy the parts from Yamaha, since otherwise you’d have to match about six characteristics.
