In pattern chain I want to copy the same drum beat from “category a” to “category b” without having to re-record it. Sorry, I know this is probably simple, but i’m just not getting it.

Your post is somewhat confusing. First, when you refer to “categories”, do you mean Sections?

Secondly, “copying” a Section in a Pattern Chain is probably best done by just recording the Chain again. For copying a Section in a Pattern before chaining it, see http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/457453/
