Well, up to this point there appears to be no new workstation from Yamaha or synth or nothing(up to this point) however I think the best news from Yamaha I’ve heard in a long long time is to have given the Sequential name back to Dave Smith.

If Yamaha doesn’t come up with anything I will be selling my Motif XF to get the new Kronos.

I might do that as well. I wonder what’s happening with YAMAHA’s development ?

Compared to Roland, and Korg, YAMAHA is moving at a snail’s pace as far as introducing anything new, and exciting. and this has been the case for over a decade.  Very Sad !

So far, nothing new has been announced on Yamaha’s website, (Yamahasynth.com) .

Roland is in the brink of extinction. The companies that are doing great are Korg, Nord, DSI(now sequential) and Moog. Yamaha is doing great in Motorcycles, PSR’s Marimbas, etc etc except on the synth department.

It was the Yamaha suicidal move with MOTIF XS when they decided to cut all the optional engine boards from Motif and Motif ES instead of offering this boards for free inside XS. And with XF it was the same move by letting down so many expectations..
The Yamaha move with XS and XF was : “Let’s try to trick the customers. We cut down all the engines and we sell a nice rompler with 700mb of sample memory to become more rich “

In regard to keyboards, they have announced lower-end P-45 and P-115 pianos, PSR-E 253/353 arrangers, and Cubase Pro 8/Artist 8.

BTW if you look up Yamaha’s trademark records, they registered ”REFACE” trademark in June 2014, ”RIVAGE” trademark in August 2014, and ”MONTAGE” trademark in Devember 2014.

Yamaha PM10D RIVAGE mixer was announced in November 2014 to be delivered in Spring 2015, and if you browse their earlier registrations, it looks like trademark application is typically filed less than a few months before actual announcement (sometimes on the same date or even months after the announcement).  So maybe Musikmesse 2015 will bring us some news…
