Hello,
I use Set LIst Maker to change sounds via midi with an iRig midi device and every thing works fine.
I am not able to change the track via midi.
I know how to change to song mode sending a Raw MIDI command:

F0 43 10 7F 1C 00 0A 00 01 03 F7

I know how to select a song number (example song n. 4):

F3 03

And I thought I also knew how to change the track number.
Reading in the midi data table on page 123 of moxf manual, I fond this:

3F 3C 0-15

But it doesn’t work.

Can anybody help me please?

Nicola

Welcome to the forum.

3F 3C 0-15 are the MSB (in Hex), LSB (in Hex), and range of Program Number to select a Mixing Voice, as per the MOXF Data List.

If you describe what you need to do in more detail (not “change the track number"),
it might be possible to explain a way to accomplish it.

Thank you for your fast reply.
Sorry if i didn’t make myself clear, but english is not my first language. I’m italian.
When in song mode you can select the sound by pushing on the buttons from 1 to 16 on the right of the keyboard.
I would like to do so sending a midi command.

Hope this is more clear.

Nicola

Yes, I understood that you wanted to emulate pushing a track button, but that can’t be done via MIDI.

If you explain what the actual goal is - why (for what purpose) you want to do that - there may be a way to make things work for you.

In other words…
What would you be doing next after a track was selected?

Ok.
I prepare a song with layered sounds (example track 1 and track 2 on ch1) for the A part of a song;
a splitted sound (example track 3 and track 4 on ch 3) for the B section ecc.
While playing live, I just push button 1 for the a section and button 3 for the B section.
It’s easy if I have to remember just A = 1 and B = 2.
There will be some times where I need to remember maybe 4 or five different buttons to push for various situations within a song.
To make things easy, I can prepare various midi presets that will be shown in a pdf music sheet shown by set list maker and notes that will remind me which button to push and when. I already have to put my hands on the iPad for changing from one page to another. I would be more comfortable if I could keep my eyes only on the Sheet rather then looking away from my ipad to push buttons on the keyboard and then look back. I would surely get lost.

thank you again

I presume that you meant to write B = 3.

OK, there’s no way I’m aware of to easily select those splits and layers in Song mode via an external device. However, you could certainly make the button selection easier to remember. Why not set things up so only the first four or five buttons are needed? It would require rearranging the MOXF’s Song Parts/Voices.

Track 1 would address one of the Parts for “A”
Track 2 would address one of the Parts for “B”
Track 3 would address one of the Parts for “C”
Track 4 would address one of the Parts for “D”
Track 5 would address one of the Parts for “E”
The remaining tracks would address the other Part(s) of a layer or split, it wouldn’t matter in what order.

Once that’s done, you could, for example…
Set the Receive Channel for Parts 1 and 9 to channel 1
Set the Receive Channel for Parts 2 and 7 to channel 2
Set the Receive Channel for Parts 3, 11, and 12 to channel 3
Set the Receive Channel for Parts 4 and 15 to channel 4
Set the Receive Channel for Parts 5, 8, and 13 to channel 5

Perhaps you could also have your PDF refer to those numbers [1]~[5], without (or in addition to) the letters.

Obviously, it would take some work to make the changes, but once done it should be easy to push the correct button.

I thought I could pilot everything from the iPad. That’s what I would like.

Thank you anyway

You are very kind

Nicola
