Hi all, this is my first post so be gentle :)
I am having an issue connecting my Motif 7 to my laptop via USB. In the File Utility and Voice Editor applications I get the following message when selecting a In/Out MIDI port:

Shell
--------------------------------
Failed to Open Yamaha MOTOF7-1
--------------------------------
OK
-------------------------

I have tried all sorts to find cause/solution to no avail. I have version 3.1.3 of the USB-MIDI drivers. I run Win 7 Pro 64bit so I have made sure I got the 64bit version.

My Motif is running 1.10 of the USB Firmware, but only 1.70 of the system firmware. I can’t update it though as I can’t connect to the SM card via the File Utility program!

Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

You will probably have to call your regional Yamaha Customer Support - trying to run the software FILE UTILITY on a Windows 7 64-bit machine - I’m sure it was developed for Windows 98 or 2000 is very “ify” proposition.

Maybe the Customer Support people have some information of that stretch between 2001-2003 and current day Operating systems.

Good luck!
