Ok, one more time. How do I transfer a .wav file from a USB stick to a track in a song file? Thanks in advance.

Technically speaking, you transfer the sample to a Motif XF VOICE, that Voice is assigned to PART of the Song or Pattern MIXING, which receives MIDI note data from a Track of the sequencer.

Insert USB stick with the .wav (16-bit, 44.1kHz) to the TO DEVICE port
Call up the Song or Pattern you wan to use the .wav
Press [FILE]
Set the TYPE = WAV
Move the cursor up into the Directory
Use the Data Wheel or the INC/DEC button to navigate the list. Highlight the .WAV

Use the [>] RIGHT cursor arrow and the DOWN cursor to move to the Target

Set the PART into which you want create the new a User Sample Voice, 1-16
Set the KEY = C3
Set the LOAD location USR, FL1 or FL2

Press [SF2] LOAD

This will load the WAV to the a USER SAMPLE VOICE (SP001) in your MIXING setup.

Record the MIDI data to the corresponding Track of the sequencer, you trigger playback by pressing the a Target KEY, C3.

Thanks Bad_Mister. I’ve gotten up to this point in the past but can’t get the file to record to the track when pressing the C3 key. It plays, just doesn’t record. I’m almost there and will keep at it. I’m using the XF for a show and would like to keep everything on this keyboard during the performance.

Got it to work!!! I think rebooting the synth had something to do with it.  I’m a happy guy.
