Hi guys! Once your Sequence is competed, and before you record it to your DAW, do you keep all the levels of the various tracks in the Mixing Mode the way you like them or do you put all the levels the same and then record the Sequence to your DAW? |

MIDI or Audio? :-) Your audio levels should, theoretically, be optimized for each instrument, track-by-track. If you are taking the time to record separate audio Tracks you are doing so because you actually want to make the final mix (balancing, EQ’ing, processing, etc) decisions in your computer DAW environment. A very common practice! (If, however, the current balance and processing is exactly as you like it, there would be little reason to go through this whole process to record each instrument separately.) When transferring the individual Tracks of your MOXF to your DAW, you want to concentrate on each instrument separately. Making use of the full power of the MOXF engine to your advantage. Let’s say you start with Drums.
You can isolate just the Drums in the first transfer.
You may want to lay down several versions of the drums - remember you no longer have to worry about the musical performance, you can concentrate on the ‘science’ of rendering it as audio. You want enough level without over driving the system. Get it as close as you can to what you like. These are all personal preference decisions… You can wait until the final mix to add reverb (this is what commonly done, but it is your choice as to when you add reverb).
Next transfer your Bass.
Etc. |
