Hello Friends, I’ve just bought a MOXF6 and I’m about to return it out of sheer frustration. I have Cubase AI synced with it via USB but when I record more than one midi track it only plays one of the MOX sounds at a time. If I change midi banks, channels, it still only plays one sound for all tracks. I’ve installed the USB driver, the midi editor, and under the midi device manager I have the MOX installed. I’ve set the parameters to local off on the Mox and followed the instructions on the manual and still nothing. Is there anything I’m missing? Thank you so much! |

Make sure the MOX is in Song Mode when playing sequences from a PC. Also make sure it is set to USB via the Utilities-MIDI menu |

Hi, Miden. Yes, the MOX is in Song Mode and it is set to USB via the Utilities midi menu. Thanks! |

Okay, well it it certainly seems like something is not set correctly at either the PC end or the MOX end.It works perfectly in both MIDI and USB modes with Sonar here, so I can only guess you have not set something correctly, or we are not getting the full description of your setup. |

Regarding the sync, Cubase doesn’t sync to your MOX - the MOX is the slave and Cubase will always be the master, so your MOX will in fact sync to Cubase, but there’s not much info to get a good idea of what you are doing. You are only syncing when you have set Cubase and your MOX up to actually sync, which is a little more than just a USB connection and involves synchronisation prefs being enabled in Cubase and your MOX set to receive sync data. I wonder if you are using the term sync to simply mean that your MOX is happily connected via USB?
Where is your music data? Is it onboard your MOX in song or pattern mode? or is it on midi tracks in Cubase? There’s a lot of physical info there like “I installed this” or “I connected this” but you seem to miss out what’s going on in Cubase itself, for example, the inspector bar in Cubase. is it possible that all your tracks are set to the same MIDI channel there? What is your aim? Is it to play back sounds from your MOX via MIDI? (this will not need any synchronisation or sync settings) Do you intend to actually sync and record audio back from your MOX to audio tracks in Cubase? Cheers |

Thank you for the replies! What I am trying to do is to play back the 3 midi tracks I recorded in Cubase on the Mox with the different Mox voices. For instance, track 1 is set to midi channel 1, track 2 to midi channel 2 and track 3 to midi channel 3. Track 1 is supposed to play the Grand Piano on the mox, track 2 Medieval MW, and track 3 tradi. But they all play Grand Piano. If I change the grand piano voice to tradi on the Mox, they all play the tradi voice. I used the term sync in reference to the fact the although the voices display correctly on Cubase’s program selector (i.e. Grand Piano), in reality Mox only plays one voice for all tracks, no matter what midi channel I have selected. My music data is all on Cubase and my Mox is on voice mode. My aim is to play back midi tracks I recorded on Cubase on the Mox with different Mox voices for each midi track. No need to record the audio back to cubase. My Mox is connected to my studio speakers and that’s where I hear my recordings. Again, thank you for the help! |

Voice mode is not multi-timbral, only the sequencer modes (Pattern or Song) are.
These might help:

I asked a similar question as the first reply to this poster and he answered it was in Song Mode!!!! Being in Voice mode would explain EVERYTHING!! Had he only been honest enough at the start… |
