OK. This piece is one I have worked on since a couple of month’s and I think it is finished now or at least almost finished.

What do you think?

The drums are a bit misplaced here, it sounds like an Amsterdam streetorgan.
The melody is nice.

Joop,

Thanks for listening. Sorry you did not like the drums in the piece. I thought it added something special to the track. Unexpected sensation. LOL.

How are the other motifator brothers/sisters feel about this. Are they agree with Joop.

Jan

PS

Were are all those brothers and sisters anyway?

I tend to agree: the drums are a little shocking. They’d probably sound better if they didn’t overpower the string ensemble.

What if you were to lower the level of the drums and either replace the crash cymbal with orchestral clash cymbals -or- perhaps just an orchestral triangle?

Another thing would be to make the snare begin pp (pianissimo) and then reach mf (mezzo-forte) as the string ensemble reaches its crescendo. Again, keeping the level of the drums lower than the string instruments.

The string ensemble is so very nice! :-)

Volume levels are affecting the mix, just that simple.
Jay Z would rip this up, yes, a rap track could be done to this. lol
I agree a very nice, happy melody for sure.

The drums were a touch loud in the mix but they do work. The sounds are superb (wish I had ‘em) and the dynamics are spot-on. Compositionally, it sounds like something out of an RPG.

Hallo Jan,
Could you contact me via personal email? I would like to use a couple of your Christmas compositions for a video I am producing.
Regards,
