Just loaded the Inspiration in a Flash library INSPFLSH.X6A to my MOFX. The readme states that it takes about 20 min to load. Actually it took 40 minutes. It was confirmed to me that the Motif XF loads this data in about 20 minutes.
Is the MOXF slower when it comes to writing data to the flash?
Maybe some MOXF owner using an original Yammie flash board can report, how long it took to load this library? Just curious… |

About 20 minutes here, give or take - but then I have the Yamaha Flash card...maybe that is the difference? |

This is interesting as I am about to order an Mutec Flash board. Dromeus: Have you had it for an while? does it work OK? |

Thanks, pax_externa! Seems there IS a reason to spend some more money for the flash board for the impatient… I installed the Mutec board last weekend. Besides lower write speed, no problems so far. I stepped through each voice in the lib to give it a listen. |

Hi,
I have the mutec 1GB board, too.
There might be an other reason for the difference of writing the flash
Mutec flash board:

Assuming that the image posted is what’s actually on the Mutec boards, then they have the same flash chips (JS28F00A-M29EWL) as Yamaha boards.

I would expect Yamaha spend a Motif XF a faster processor than the MOXF. If not the display would react quite slow like on vintage Atari ST with only 8MHZ cpu. Managing a grapic color display needs simple more processing power than using a simple low resolution lcd we see on the MOXF. Writing to flash is a CPU intensive process.

I agree - I may have gone for the Mutec myself, but by the time I got one in (none available in Australia) and paid all the shipping, it was going to be a similar cost, so I went genuine. |
