Hi everyone…

I’ve been using the Yamaha Steinberg FW driver to connect my XS 7 (with mlan16e) with Cubase 6 for over two years.

I’m thinking of upgrading my aging Macbook Pro, but noticed on Apple’s website that the newer models have no Firewire port, the only one that has it is a 2 core model which would beat the reason for upgrading it in the first place. Amongst other reasons Halion runs better with more processor cores.

Does anyone have any suggestion/solution on what to do here?  Would Yamaha Steinberg FW driver even work if I use a Firewire -> USB 3 adapter?  I’m guessing no because as far as the driver is concerned it can’t see the Firewire port on the adapter.

Any help kindly appreciated.

Thank you........

All you need is a Thunderbolt-to-FW adapter… newer Macs come with Thunderbolt ports. Adapter is about $30 USD
