I’ve been using the midi outs on Motif instead of USB for years because when I use USB it hangs and hiccups consistently no matter what version of windows or driver version. I have windows 7 and the latest Yamaha USB driver. What gives? I can’t believe this is just me. |

No, hiccups could be because you did not setup the driver properly. That is usually the cause - it is not just you - everyone with the driver improperly setup is likely to get hiccups. |

You don’t say what software you are trying to setup. So we can’t really tell you much… |

Sorry. I have Windows 7 64 bit with Sonar 7 and Sonar X1. I have the latest Yamaha driver for Windows 7 64 bit. Is there anything else you need to know? TIA, Larry |

What you need to do is select the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver and tell us exactly what version - this is important since you say tried several (?)
Go to your Windows 7 CONTROL PANEL
Next in Sonar’s documentation you want to make sure you have setup to use this driver for MIDI input.

I have vs 3.1.2. I have tried older versions of the driver running with xp and motif over the past 8 or so years and have had the same issues as now- no sound and then a burst of notes after a delay and other like anomalies so I gave up on trying to use the motif USB and opted for the ux256 for midi which ran fine. I am now running the tascam us 1800 as my audio interface. I am only having midi issues. Audio is fine. Sonar is recognizing motif. I need to use the USB now because I want to be able to use the plg150ap. Thx |

Maybe it’s your computer or the particular USB port. Has it been the same computer throughout the 8 years? It is unlikely the MIDI driver but anything is possible. What happens when you record audio through your audio interface? What are the specs on the computer - do they exceed those recommended by Sonar? |

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron. I am having the same issues on both this new computer and my old Dell. I have had no trouble with the audio. What do you need for proper configuration of the driver. Are there some settings I can play with to see if they make a difference? To me, it’s either the driver or my ES, but since you mentioned others having trouble with the driver I thought I’d start there. I would like to update my OS on the ES but don’t have a way to do right now since it needs to be through the card reader. |

What firmware is in your ES? |
